The hack is named due to the ability to control a team of characters, which is reminiscent of the more recent 3D game Sonic Heroes. It therefore is a single ROM that offers the entire campaigns of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, either alone or together and enables the player to play as many characters such as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Other games have featured Tails since then, but these two are the earliest and most important in the Miles Prower solo gaming experience.Sonic Classic Heroes is a ROM hack for the Sega Mega Drive that is the result of a collaboration between flamewing and ColinC10, combining their respective hacks Sonic 2 Heroes and Sonic 1 and 2. This adventure mixed traditional Sonic gaming elements with role playing style elements. That same year the game Tails’ Adventure was released for Game Gear. This game was only released for the Game Gear in Japan. In the game Tails’ Skypatrol, Tails has to save an island from the evil Wendy Witchcart. Not happy just being a sidekick, Tails has gone out to do his own thing, as well. The first time players were given complete control of Sonic’s best friend was in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in 1994. Later that same year, the 16-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 would be released, still making Tails more of a tag along character. His first appearance was in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the 8-bit Sega Master System.

Miles ‘Tails’ Prower was first introduced into the Sonic the Hedgehog universe through the Sonic games. After a little while, they agreed to give him both names so everybody wins. The designer that won had originally named Miles, but Sonic Team decided to change his name to Tails. The design for Tails was part of an in house competition at Sega. This is in direct reference to how fast Sonic the Hedgehog can run. The name Miles Prower is a play on the phrase ‘miles per hour’. He uses these tails to fly by spinning them both at high rates of speed like a helicopter. Miles Prower is more widely known by his nickname Tails, as he is a fox that has two tails. Among the most important of these is Sonic the Hedgehog’s best friend, Miles ‘Tails’ Prower.

Throughout all of his adventures, Sonic has met a lot of strange and interesting people, many of whom help him along the way. Even though Sonic the Hedgehog is the star of almost all Sonic games, as well as the comic books, television shows, and novels, he cannot do it alone.
